URGENT UPDATE: A series of violent incidents and property crimes have erupted in Salisbury, North Carolina, raising serious safety concerns for residents. Police reports detail multiple assaults, including some involving firearms, along with numerous thefts over the past week.
In a shocking incident on January 24, officers responded to an assault with a gun at 10:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Gold Hill Drive. Just hours later, around 4:40 p.m., a hit-and-run caused property damage in the 1300 block of Klumac Road. The pattern of violence continued, with authorities confirming an assault with sexual motives reported on January 26, prompting increased police visibility in the area.
Other alarming reports include an assault with a dangerous weapon that occurred on January 23 at 10:55 a.m. on Mocksville Avenue. This was followed by two additional assaults later that day, highlighting an urgent need for community awareness and vigilance.
Police also reported extortion incidents in the 200 block of Circle Drive, where the crime took place between January 19 and January 22, with authorities receiving notification on January 24. The estimated loss from this crime is currently under investigation.
In addition to assaults, thefts have plagued the community. A larceny incident was reported in the 200 block of Pearl Street, where valuables worth an estimated $307 were stolen between January 17 and January 24. Another significant case of fraud occurred on January 26, resulting in a loss of $3,500 in the 300 block of South Merritt Avenue.
Authorities are also tackling drug-related offenses, with several individuals charged over the past week. Among them, Jaxon Robert Wayne Frye, aged 38, faces felony charges for third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, while Ruqayyah Qurisha Gray, aged 33, and Antonio Jerome Kight, aged 30, were charged with felony conspiracy on January 24.
In a separate incident, James Jermaine Bristow, aged 26, was charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance on January 25, showcasing the ongoing issues of drug abuse and crime in the area.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office also reported several significant crimes, including fraud and vandalism, stressing a need for community action. A concerning incident of possession of a weapon on school grounds was reported on January 23, indicating potential risks to local students and families.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. Community safety is paramount, especially given the recent uptick in violence and property crimes in Salisbury.
