Microsoft Teams Announces Major Messaging Upgrades Coming Soon

URGENT UPDATE: Microsoft Teams is set to roll out significant messaging improvements that users have long awaited. Starting in January 2026, the collaboration platform will introduce features designed to enhance user experience and alleviate common frustrations.

In a move aimed at addressing user feedback, Microsoft confirmed via its Microsoft 365 Roadmap that Teams will allow users to customize the behavior of the Enter key. This means you can finally choose whether pressing Enter sends your message or starts a new line. This long-requested feature aims to reduce the number of accidental message sends—an issue many have faced while typing in chats.

Moreover, another highly anticipated upgrade is on the way. By February 2026, Teams users will have the ability to select and forward up to five messages simultaneously from a chat or channel, enhancing the way information can be shared within Teams. Currently, users can only forward one message at a time, making this a game-changer for those who need to convey information efficiently.

These updates are part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to improve Teams, which, despite its popularity, has faced criticism for its messaging functionality. The enhancements are expected to roll out to users on Desktop, Mac, and Linux for the Enter key adjustment, while the message forwarding feature will be available on Desktop, Mac, and web platforms.

While Microsoft has shared these timelines, it is important to note that they are tentative and subject to change based on development progress. Users are encouraged to keep an eye on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap for the latest updates.

These changes are crucial for enhancing productivity and making communication within Teams more fluid, addressing ongoing user frustrations head-on. As Microsoft continues to innovate, these improvements are anticipated to make a significant impact on how users interact and collaborate on the platform.

Stay tuned for more updates as these features roll out, and prepare for a more streamlined Teams messaging experience in the coming months!
