Microsoft PowerToys Makes Five Paid Utilities Obsolete for Windows Users

URGENT UPDATE: Microsoft’s PowerToys suite has just rendered five popular paid utilities obsolete for Windows users, streamlining productivity and enhancing system capabilities at no cost. This significant development comes as PowerToys continues to evolve, offering features that previously required costly third-party applications.

With PowerToys, users can access powerful tools that enhance their operating experience without spending a dime. This free, open-source suite is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11, and it is rapidly becoming a must-have for anyone looking to maximize their productivity.

One of the standout features is FancyZones, which replaces applications like Divvy and DisplayFusion. Users can now create custom window layouts across multiple monitors, organizing their workspace seamlessly without needing to purchase a $40 license for DisplayFusion or $29 for AquaSnap. FancyZones allows for quick window management and layout switching, making multitasking far more efficient.

Additionally, the Always On Top feature eliminates the need for WindowTop, a popular window pinning tool priced at $10. PowerToys offers a simple shortcut—press Win + Ctrl + T—to keep any window on top of others, ensuring that important tasks remain visible.

For those sharing a keyboard and mouse across multiple computers, Mouse Without Borders is now included in PowerToys, taking the place of Synergy, which costs between $29 and $49. This built-in utility supports up to four Windows PCs and allows for drag-and-drop file transfers and clipboard sharing, making it a robust alternative for users who previously relied on the paid service.

Clipboard management has also been improved with the introduction of Advanced Paste and Clipboard History. These features replace paid options like ClipboardFusion Pro and ClipMate, which often cost between $19 and $34.95. PowerToys allows users to paste in various formats and even includes generative AI capabilities for text reformatting, all while integrating seamlessly with the built-in Clipboard History accessed via Win + V.

Another highly anticipated feature is PowerToys Run, which offers a free alternative to Listary. This tool allows users to search for files and applications with a simple keystroke (Alt + Space), streamlining access to essential resources without needing a one-time purchase of $19.95 for Listary.

As Microsoft continues to enhance PowerToys, it raises questions about the future of paid utilities for Windows. The growing suite of features within PowerToys not only saves users money but also fosters a more integrated and user-friendly experience.

In an evolving tech landscape, these enhancements are significant. Users are encouraged to download PowerToys immediately to take advantage of these features and boost their productivity without incurring any costs.

Stay tuned for further updates as Microsoft continues to innovate and expand PowerToys, potentially rendering even more paid utilities unnecessary. Share this news with fellow Windows users and help them discover the free tools that can redefine their computing experience!
