BREAKING: The 2026 Oscars are heating up as Michael B. Jordan heads the spotlight with his first-ever nomination for Best Lead Actor for his role in the year’s most-nominated film, “Sinners.” This urgent news comes as Hollywood prepares for an electrifying awards season, with a special episode of “On The Red Carpet: And the Nominees Are…” airing today.
During an exclusive interview at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Jordan discussed the incredible journey of bringing his dual characters, twins “Smoke” and “Stack,” to life. “You try to bring as much of yourself into them to bring those characters to life,” he shared. This year, “Sinners” has garnered a stunning 16 Oscar nominations, breaking the previous record held by “Titanic,” “La La Land,” and “All About Eve.”
In addition to Jordan, co-stars Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo also received nominations, underscoring the film’s exceptional cast and storytelling. Notably, costume designer Ruth E. Carter secured her fifth nomination for Best Costume Design, making her the most-nominated Black woman in Oscar history.
Meanwhile, “One Battle After Another”, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, ranks second with multiple nominations, including Best Picture. Leonardo DiCaprio, a seasoned Oscar contender, received his sixth nomination for Lead Actor. “It’s an original concept,” DiCaprio stated, highlighting the film’s unique narrative centered on a father’s quest to reconnect with his daughter.
