UPDATE: The Miami Marlins have activated third baseman Connor Norby today after a month-long recovery from a broken hamate bone in his left wrist. Norby, who last played on July 11, 2023, faced initial wrist inflammation that later required surgery performed by hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix on July 16, 2023.
Norby is back in the lineup against the New York Mets, batting sixth, marking a crucial return for the Marlins as they push through the season’s final stretch. Manager Clayton McCullough expressed enthusiasm about Norby’s return, stating, “Very excited to get Connor back. He worked extremely hard along with our training staff to get back from this as quickly as he could.”
The third baseman had a rocky start to the season, missing the first three weeks due to a strained oblique. In his 72 games before the wrist injury, he recorded a batting average of .241 with six home runs and 26 RBIs. The Marlins acquired Norby at the 2024 trade deadline from Baltimore, where he hit .236 with nine homers and 20 RBIs across 45 games.
To accommodate Norby’s return, infielder Maximo Acosta has been optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville after struggling at the plate, batting only .167 (4-for-24) in nine games.
The Marlins’ fans are eagerly anticipating how Norby will impact the team’s performance as they aim for a strong finish this season. Keep an eye on the Marlins as they look to capitalize on Norby’s return in their series against the Mets.
