Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi recently participated in a press junket at Greystone Manor in Los Angeles, promoting their upcoming film, Wuthering Heights, set to release on February 13, 2026. The film, directed by Emerald Fennell, is based on the classic novel by Emily Brontë and explores the intense relationship between Catherine Earnshaw, played by Robbie, and Heathcliff, portrayed by Elordi.
During the event, Robbie shared insights into a particularly romantic moment in the film. In a scene not originally scripted, Heathcliff shields Catherine’s eyes from the rain, a spontaneous gesture that highlights his protective nature. Robbie noted, “He did that in the rehearsal to actually shield my face from the rain, just instinctively because he’s a gentleman, and Emerald and I were both like, ‘Do that again in the scene, for the whole scene. That was amazing.'”
While discussing the film’s romantic elements, Robbie revealed her personal preferences when it comes to romance. She mentioned that she finds the simple act of a man reversing his car in a certain way to be unexpectedly appealing. “Something that kind of is swoon-worthy… is when a guy is reversing, and he does this on the steering wheel. I don’t know why that’s so hot, but it is,” she said, adding that the gesture tends to catch her attention.
Elordi chimed in, agreeing with Robbie’s observations. “It does feel cool. That’s a really good one. I can’t trump that,” he said, affirming the charm of her description. Their chemistry during the press event has drawn attention, with many anticipating their on-screen dynamic in the film.
The adaptation of Wuthering Heights has already stirred discussions online. Initial reactions to the film’s trailers highlighted some controversial elements, particularly regarding the portrayal of its characters. Nonetheless, social media responses have largely been positive, with several reviews praising the film’s design and the chemistry between Robbie and Elordi. Collider critic Meredit Loftus noted the film’s “gorgeous set design & costumes” and lauded the soundtrack, featuring music by Charli XCX.
Set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, Wuthering Heights tells the story of Heathcliff and Catherine’s passionate yet tumultuous romance, which is irrevocably changed when Catherine marries the wealthy Edgar Linton. Following her marriage, Heathcliff embarks on a path of revenge that impacts both their lives and those of the aristocratic families surrounding them.
With a runtime of 136 minutes, Wuthering Heights also features actors Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and Ewan Mitchell. As the film’s release date approaches, audiences are eager for behind-the-scenes insights and deeper analyses of its themes and performances.
In a landscape filled with adaptations of classic literature, Robbie and Elordi’s portrayal of such iconic characters is set to captivate audiences, blending traditional storytelling with modern sensibilities. The film’s promotional activities will continue to reveal more about its production and artistic choices, heightening anticipation for its theatrical debut next February.
