Manny Jacinto Urges Couples Therapy to Strengthen Relationships

UPDATE: In a striking interview published today, actor Manny Jacinto emphasizes the critical importance of attending couples therapy, advocating for proactive relationship management. With his insights on maintaining a healthy marriage, Jacinto reveals that seeking help before problems arise could be the key to long-lasting love.

Speaking with Cosmopolitan, Jacinto, known for his roles in “Freakier Friday” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” shared his belief that therapy should be a preventative measure rather than a last resort. “You don’t want to be going to couples therapy when you’re in a really bad spot because sometimes it might be too late,” he cautioned.

Jacinto has been married to fellow actor Dianne Doan since 2021, and he acknowledges that the honeymoon phase is temporary. He stresses that maintaining a marriage requires continuous effort, stating, “It takes work, time, and communication, but it’s worth it. If it was easy, everybody would stay married. But it’s not easy.”

In his approach to relationships, Jacinto reflects on his reactions, often questioning whether his responses are fueled by his feelings or by genuine engagement with his partner. “Am I hungry and is this why I’m acting like this? Or did I not get enough sleep?” he stated, illustrating how personal well-being can directly affect communication.

This perspective resonates with other celebrities advocating for the benefits of couples therapy. In a previous interview, actor Rob Lowe revealed that he and his wife Sheryl Berkoff have attended counseling even when they “didn’t need it,” comparing it to routine car maintenance. “It’s like taking your car in and making sure the engine’s running great,” he explained.

Similarly, singer Meghan Trainor shared her experience of attending monthly counseling with husband Daryl Sabara, explaining that the decision stemmed from observing friends in therapy. “We said to ourselves, ‘Let’s try it and see how we can get even closer,'” Trainor remarked.

As these insights circulate, the conversation around mental health and relationship support continues to grow. Jacinto’s advice is a call to action for couples everywhere to prioritize their emotional health proactively.

As the dialogue around couples therapy becomes increasingly relevant, Jacinto’s perspective provides a timely reminder that relationships require ongoing commitment and open communication. This approach could be essential for couples looking to strengthen their bonds in an ever-changing world.
