Los Alamitos Routs Edison 41-22 with Ibarra’s 216-Yard Rush

UPDATE: Los Alamitos High School continues its undefeated streak, defeating Edison 41-22 in a thrilling match at SoFi Stadium last night. Running back Lenny Ibarra dominated the field with an impressive 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns, solidifying the Griffins’ position at 8-0 for the season.

The game, part of the Alpha League opener, showcased the Griffins’ resilience and teamwork. Coach Ray Fenton has cultivated a spirit of brotherhood among his players, a sentiment echoed by Ibarra, who stated, “It’s just a brotherhood. We play for each other.” The Griffins’ performance was particularly remarkable given that they had not played since September 26, due to a two-week break.

Los Alamitos led 21-16 at halftime, with pivotal plays marking their dominance. A critical moment occurred when Oscar Ocampo blocked a 46-yard field goal attempt by Edison, returning it for 77 yards to set up a touchdown just before the half. Quarterback Colin Creason also made significant contributions, throwing touchdown passes of 59 yards to Ashton Gogue and 74 yards to Beckham Hofland.

Edison, now 5-3, put up a fight, with quarterback Sam Thomson passing for 305 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Sam Edmisten rushed for 163 yards and scored twice. However, Los Alamitos’ defense rallied in the second half, stopping Edison on two fourth-down attempts, contributing to a decisive 20-0 run in the third quarter.

Looking ahead, Los Alamitos will face San Clemente next, followed by a crucial showdown against Mission Viejo that could determine the Alpha League title and playoff berths. Ibarra, committed to Army, displayed an unyielding spirit on the field, repeatedly breaking tackles and refusing to go down easily. Coach Fenton remarked, “He’s going to West Point. He’s a dude.”

As the Griffins continue their remarkable run, fans are left wondering if there’s any stopping this magical season for a team fueled by friendship and determination. The excitement is palpable, with many anticipating their next game and the potential for history-making outcomes. Share this story and keep following Los Alamitos as they aim for an extraordinary finish to the season!
