Kirk Humbles III Shines with Three Touchdowns in Alameda’s 45-21 Victory

UPDATE: Alameda High School’s star, Kirk Humbles III, dominated the field with three touchdowns, leading his team to a resounding 45-21 victory over Mt. Diablo on the road in Concord, California, on September 19, 2025. Humbles displayed his explosive talent by scoring in rushing, receiving, and defense, making a significant impact in the game.

The Hornets came into this matchup fueled by the memory of last year’s narrow defeat to Mt. Diablo. Humbles wasted no time showcasing his skills, finishing the night with an impressive 203 yards from scrimmage. “As soon as I get the ball, you already know what time it is,” Humbles declared post-game, emphasizing his relentless drive to score.

Alameda head coach Robin Morris praised his team’s determination, stating, “These kids came back fighting and fighting and fighting. I’m just super proud of them.” This victory marks Alameda’s fourth consecutive win, solidifying their position as a formidable contender this season.

Mt. Diablo took an early lead when Antonio Campbell III recovered a fumble and lateraled to Kaile Leffel, who dashed for a 70-yard touchdown. However, Humbles quickly shifted the momentum with an electrifying 87-yard touchdown after catching a flip pass from quarterback Casey Koga-Dean. On the very next drive, Humbles intercepted a pass and sprinted for an 81-yard pick-six, showcasing his game-changing ability and sealing the Hornets’ lead.

“I was just thinking about not trying to get caught,” Humbles recalled about his thrilling touchdown runs. As the first half closed, Koga-Dean connected with Austin Soper for a 52-yard touchdown pass, leaving Mt. Diablo struggling to regain their footing.

The second half saw no challenge to Alameda’s lead as Humbles capped off his night with another touchdown, this time a 35-yard score in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to a commanding 24 points. The Hornets’ defense was equally impressive, limiting Mt. Diablo to just 52 passing yards in the first half and forcing four turnovers throughout the game.

“It’s just about knowing your responsibility and the basic fundamentals,” Morris emphasized regarding the defense’s performance. With this win, Alameda is off to its best start since 2023, eyeing their second consecutive West Alameda County Conference Shoreline Division title.

Despite the emotional weight of playing their first home game after recent field vandalism, Mt. Diablo head coach Fetuao Mua held his team accountable for their performance. “There are no excuses. Alameda showed up to play football, and we didn’t,” he stated firmly.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Humbles and the Hornets as they continue to build on this momentum. Fans are eager to see if they can maintain their winning streak and capture another conference title, making every game a must-watch.

Stay tuned for more updates on Alameda’s journey as they aim for excellence in the remainder of the season.
