UPDATE: In a thrilling matchup, the Los Angeles Kings triumphed over the Utah Mammoth with a score of 4-2 on Monday night in Salt Lake City. Joel Armia shone brightly, scoring two goals, while Adrian Kempe contributed with both a goal and an assist, marking a significant victory for the Kings.
The game kicked off with high intensity as Kempe netted his 10th goal of the season just 7:50 into the first period, skillfully finishing a play set up by Kevin Fiala. Shortly after, at 10:08, Armia extended the Kings’ lead to 2-0, firing a shot past goalie Karel Vejmelka after receiving a stretch pass from Fiala.
The Mammoth responded quickly in the second period. Dylan Guenther scored a power-play goal just 34 seconds in, making it 2-1 with a one-timer from the high slot, assisted by Clayton Keller, who also had a goal and an assist during the game.
Despite the momentum shift, the Kings regained control in the third period. Anze Kopitar found the net on a rebound at 3:27, bringing the score to 3-1. The Mammoth’s Keller pulled them back within one again with 7:47 left on the clock, making it 3-2. However, Armia sealed the victory for the Kings with an empty-net goal at 1:38, finalizing the score at 4-2.
This win marks the Kings’ third victory in five games, while the Mammoth continue to struggle, suffering their sixth loss in just eight games. Goalie Darcy Kuemper recorded 19 saves, while Vejmelka logged 23 saves for the Mammoth.
As the NHL season progresses, the Kings are set to face the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night, while the Mammoth will host the Florida Panthers on the same day. Fans eagerly await how both teams will respond in their upcoming matches.
