UPDATE: Kids in North Platte are gearing up for an exciting adventure at the Rail Days event on August 2, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This hands-on experience will showcase the vehicles that drive our world, and admission is absolutely free!
Hosted by the North Platte Area Children’s Museum and Golden Spike Tower & Visitors Center, this event will take place in Cody Park, where children can explore tractors, trucks, and even an aircraft up close. “This is a perfect opportunity for us to meet families where they are — outside, exploring and learning together,” said Sierra Gardner, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum.
The event features interactive activity stations designed to engage young minds in transportation and engineering concepts. Gardner emphasized the importance of community collaboration, stating, “This collaborative effort is about more than just big machines and fun photo ops; it’s a shining example of how local organizations can partner to expand their impact.”
This initiative reflects a growing trend in North Platte, where local institutions are joining forces to create memorable experiences for families. The Children’s Museum aims to foster lifelong learning and curiosity beyond its indoor exhibits, and this event highlights that commitment.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to discover and learn about the vehicles that have shaped the North Platte community. The excitement of seeing these machines in person, coupled with educational activities, promises to make this a day filled with fun and learning.
As the date approaches, be sure to mark your calendars and prepare for a fantastic day of exploration at Rail Days!
