BREAKING: An ICE agent fired three shots at a vehicle during a tense confrontation in Black Forest, Colorado, approximately 30 minutes north of Colorado Springs, on October 26, 2023. The incident unfolded during an enforcement operation when the suspects allegedly attempted to ram their vehicle into officers.
According to an ICE spokesperson, “As a result of their violent actions and to protect the officers and agents onsite, an officer fired three shots into the vehicle.” The suspects managed to flee the scene, abandoning their vehicle shortly after. Law enforcement officials are currently intensifying efforts to locate the two fugitives, who remain at large.
A significant law enforcement presence has been reported in the area, with armored vehicles, helicopters, drones, and personnel from the FBI, ICE, and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office actively searching. Witnesses noted a truck being towed from a ditch, though it remains unclear whether it was connected to the shooting incident.
Burgess Road near the intersection of Green Tree was closed for over five hours as authorities conducted their search. By Thursday evening, a shelter-in-place order issued earlier in the day was lifted, but no arrests had been confirmed.
Pro-immigrant activists gathered near the law enforcement staging area seeking information about the incident. Genevieve Richard from the Colorado Springs Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression expressed skepticism towards any official statements, stating, “We know that ICE is going to put up their own presentation on this… we’re just trying to find out all we can.”
The ICE spokesperson attributed the rising tensions and assaults against officers to “lies and violent rhetoric” surrounding their operations, underscoring the urgency and danger faced by agents in the field.
As the search continues, authorities will be monitoring the situation closely. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
