UPDATE: The highly anticipated Holiday Express celebration is set to launch this week at Blackberry Farm in Aurora, IL. The Fox Valley Park District invites families to kick off the holiday season with an array of festive activities, opening on Saturday, December 2, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
This year’s event features a Special Needs Night on Friday, December 1, offering a lower-sensory environment designed for guests with special needs. The Holiday Express will be available every weekend until December 21, running from 5 PM to 8 PM on Fridays and 2 PM to 7 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are priced at $10 for attendees aged one year and older, available at www.blackberryfarm.info/special-events/holiday-express/.
The event has become a beloved tradition since its inception in 2006, featuring the popular holiday train ride alongside numerous engaging activities. Becky Harling, Recreation Superintendent at Blackberry Farm, revealed that preparations started over a month ago to ensure a festive atmosphere. “We’ve added more lights and photo displays but kept many popular attractions from last year,” Harling stated.
Families will find plenty to enjoy, including holiday displays, a new train photo opportunity with a decorated vintage engine, and Santa Claus himself, available daily at the North Pole Oasis, located in the Carriage Museum. Kids can also engage in arts and crafts at the Holiday Village within the Early Streets Museum, visit the Candy Cane Village playground, and partake in storytelling sessions at the Gingerbread School House.
Harling emphasized the unique appeal of Blackberry Farm. “Our park’s size allows families to navigate easily without feeling overwhelmed, making it a perfect spot for young children,” she noted. “Despite our years of operation, many still discover us for the first time, which speaks to our charm.”
