UPDATE: Hampshire’s star setter, Kylie Lambert, delivered a standout performance in a decisive 25-18, 25-9 victory over Burlington Central on September 9, 2025. With her exceptional skills on display, Lambert helped propel Hampshire to a dominating 8-3 record, remaining undefeated in the Fox Valley Conference at 5-0.
Lambert, who stands at 5-foot-7 and is committed to NCAA Division II Arkansas Tech, showcased her playmaking abilities by serving four aces and executing two strategic dump kills. “Even saying the word amazing is an understatement,” Lambert stated. “There’s talent everywhere, making my job look kind of easy.”
The Whip-Purs demonstrated their offensive depth, with Elizabeth King and Keira Skerke each contributing five kills. Additionally, Ella Ingve served three aces, while Lily Ingve and Anna Schiltz added three kills apiece. Their collective efforts left Burlington Central’s coach, Julia Smagacz, pondering how to enhance her team’s competitiveness against such seasoned opponents.
Hampshire’s coach, Omar Cortez, praised Lambert’s leadership, calling her “a good maestro out there with this band.” He emphasized her aggressive approach and ability to keep defenses guessing, which opens up more opportunities for their offense.
Lambert’s strategy includes keen observations of her opponents’ blocking techniques. “If I see they’re moving and caught off guard, I’m going to put it over in two,” she explained. This insight not only aids her team in scoring but also frustrates the opposition.
Despite a strong effort from Burlington Central, led by Haidyn Schatz with seven kills, they struggled to find momentum against Hampshire’s experience. “We have a bunch of people new to varsity, and they’re very good,” Smagacz acknowledged. “We just have to find our competitiveness.”
Looking ahead, Lambert expressed confidence in her teammate, Ella Ingve, who is stepping into a more significant role this season. “I think leading her off on the best foot forward is going to be one of my best accomplishments,” Lambert said, highlighting the bond and trust within the team.
As Hampshire’s volleyball program continues to thrive, fans can expect more impressive performances from Lambert and her teammates as they aim to maintain their winning streak. Stay tuned for further updates on their journey in the Fox Valley Conference as they look to secure more victories in the coming weeks.
