UPDATE: Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been rushed to the hospital following a serious on-set injury while filming the latest episode of Flavortown Food Fight. The 57-year-old television star suffered a catastrophic fall that left him wheelchair-bound after he “slipped down a set of steps,” leading to a shocking injury to his quad muscle.
In an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, Fieri detailed the incident: “One foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold,” he explained. This unexpected fall resulted in his quad muscle tearing “in half.” After being transported to the hospital, Fieri learned from medical professionals that they had never seen a similar injury in their 20 years of experience. “You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle and it exploded,” he recounted.
With the production crew of 125 people ready to shoot, Fieri was immediately taken into surgery to prevent further damage to his muscle. He shared, “We figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it’s been a run.”
Currently, Fieri is navigating his recovery with the help of crutches and a wheelchair. He revealed, “I have to stay off it. I can’t walk on it for eight weeks.” After this period, he will receive a cast and begin rehabilitation, which he is eager to start “as fast as possible.”
The injury has not only impacted Fieri’s mobility but also his plans for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. His eldest son, Hunter Fieri, has stepped up to take charge of the family feast, humorously texting his father that it’s his “time to shine.” Fieri expressed confidence in his sons, stating, “Hunter and my youngest son, Ryder, know how to cook.”
Fieri, who shares Hunter and Ryder with his wife, Lori Fieri, joked about his new role from the wheelchair, saying, “It’s gonna be me quarterbacking from the wheelchair and telling them what to do.” The family typically prepares a meal for about 40 guests, promising an unforgettable Thanksgiving adventure.
As Fieri faces this challenging time, he remains optimistic about his recovery and the support of his family.
