UPDATE: Actor Glen Powell faced an unexpected and embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while filming his latest movie, The Running Man, shocking fans and crew alike. During an appearance on Entertainment Tonight’s “Spilling the E-Tea,” Powell revealed that a stunt involving rappelling down a building left him more exposed than he anticipated.
Powell, 37, described the moment he realized he was not properly covered while performing a stunt, saying he was wearing “a towel with a little, like, a pouch underneath,” which he humorously referred to as “a marble sack.” He noted the challenge of descending a building while unaware that crew members were watching from nearby windows. “So, when you’re going down the building and you see a window, you don’t realize there’s people in there, like, lighting and doing electric,” he explained.
His co-star, Josh Brolin, added to the hilarity by mimicking Powell’s position, pointing out how the crew had a front-row seat to the unexpected view. The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of on-set filming, especially for stunts that require minimal clothing.
Set to release in theaters on November 7, 2023, The Running Man features Powell as a desperate father trying to earn quick money for his sick daughter by participating in a deadly reality show where professional assassins hunt him down. Powell shared his initial excitement about the scene, admitting he found it “very, very funny,” but later regretted filming it in the bitter cold of Bulgaria in February. “Being in a towel in front of a crew is one thing, but being in a towel in February in frigid Bulgaria, it’s a sight,” he said.
Powell’s career has skyrocketed since his breakout role in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Following that success, he starred in Hit Man and Anyone But You, the latter earning him a Golden Globe nomination. Recently, speculation about a romantic connection with co-star Sydney Sweeney intensified after Sweeney attended Powell’s sister’s wedding in March. Sweeney, however, addressed these rumors, stating, “The tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going.”
This wardrobe malfunction does not just reveal Powell’s humorous side but also underscores the unpredictability of film production and the pressures actors face while performing high-stakes stunts. Fans eagerly await the release of The Running Man, where they can witness Powell’s daring performance, wardrobe malfunctions included.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as the film’s release approaches and fans continue to discuss Powell’s candid revelations.
