UPDATE: The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team has officially secured the No. 13 spot in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 preseason coaches poll, released just moments ago on February 3, 2025. This ranking marks a strong start as Coach Wes Johnson enters his third season with the team, aiming to build on their impressive 43-17 record from last year.
This ranking is significant as Georgia is among a competitive group of seven teams from the SEC in the top 15, led by No. 1 LSU. The complete top five includes UCLA, Texas, Georgia Tech, and Arkansas, showcasing the dominance of the SEC in college baseball.
Other ranked SEC teams include No. 6 Mississippi State, No. 9 Auburn, and No. 15 Tennessee, indicating a fierce competition ahead. With the season opener set for February 13 against Wright State at home, the Bulldogs are gearing up for a highly anticipated season.
Returning key players include infielders Kolby Branch and Tre Phelps, along with catcher Daniel Jackson. The Bulldogs have also bolstered their roster with transfer pitchers Joey Volchko from Stanford, Dylan Vigue from Michigan, and two-way player Kenny Ishikawa.
Georgia’s preseason rankings reflect their potential and the excitement surrounding the program. Earlier polls also placed them at No. 6 in Baseball America and No. 15 in D1Baseball and Perfect Game, emphasizing their strong standing in college baseball.
