Former Sommelier Launches CRBN Pickleball Paddle Company Amid Pandemic

URGENT UPDATE: A former sommelier turned entrepreneur, Garrett Gosselin, has launched a successful pickleball paddle company, CRBN Pickleball, after losing his job during the COVID-19 pandemic. This innovative business, rooted in a personal quest for better equipment, is quickly gaining traction in the rapidly growing sport of pickleball.

In 2021, after spending countless hours playing pickleball during the pandemic, Gosselin recognized a pressing demand for high-quality paddles that could withstand the sport’s increasing popularity. “I was cycling through a lot of different paddles,” Gosselin explained, noting the lack of durability and performance in existing options. With less than a year of experience in the sport, he decided to create his own paddle, leading to the birth of CRBN.

On September 25, 2025, CRBN is set to launch its latest innovation, the CRBN4 TruFoam Genesis, which promises to revolutionize the game even further. The initial launch saw Gosselin order 500 paddles after garnishing interest from fellow players during tournaments. “They sold out in like a week,” Gosselin recalled, highlighting the immediate demand for his product.

The company’s rise can be attributed to several factors. Gosselin’s sleek, all-black paddle design stood out in a market flooded with brightly colored options. “If you were two or three away, it was just a black-on-black carbon fiber paddle,” he stated, which intrigued players looking for something different. Additionally, endorsements from high-profile athletes helped elevate the brand’s credibility.

Kyle Goguen, Gosselin’s childhood friend, joined the CRBN team in late 2021, bringing valuable e-commerce expertise to the venture. “We were going as fast as we could at the time, and it wasn’t fast enough,” Goguen noted, referring to the overwhelming demand for CRBN’s paddles. Today, the company has grown to a team of 25 employees and expanded its product line to include eyewear, bags, and apparel.

As pickleball continues to surge in popularity, recognized as one of the fastest-growing sports in America, Gosselin and Goguen are committed to ongoing innovation. “You have to stand out, and so we’ve had to get better and better,” Goguen emphasized, insisting that the company remains dedicated to refining its paddle technology.

With the official launch of the CRBN4 TruFoam Genesis just around the corner, pickleball enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting how this new product will impact their game. The company has proven that even in uncertain times, innovation can lead to success, inspiring others to pursue their passions amid adversity.

As the world watches, CRBN Pickleball is poised for even greater achievements in the competitive landscape of sports equipment. Stay tuned for the latest updates on this exciting story!
