Filmmaker Yi Zhou Accuses Jeremy Renner of Misconduct

UPDATE: Filmmaker Yi Zhou has leveled serious allegations of misconduct against actor Jeremy Renner, claiming he shared explicit images and subsequently threatened her after being confronted. These shocking accusations come amid their collaboration on two projects, Chronicles of Disney and Stardust Future, and have emerged in a flurry of social media posts.

In a series of Instagram posts, Zhou detailed the disturbing interactions, stating that Renner first contacted her directly in June 2023, sending her a “string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images” of himself. When Zhou confronted him about this behavior, she alleges that Renner threatened to “call immigration or ICE” on her, leaving her feeling “upset and intimidated.”

Zhou described the experience as emblematic of the ongoing power imbalance that harms women in the film industry. She stated, “Such behavior is unacceptable,” highlighting the emotional toll these incidents take on female creatives.

Accompanying her allegations, Zhou shared screenshots purportedly from her conversations with Renner and messages from friends expressing concern for her well-being. The filmmaker went further, revealing to the Daily Mail that Renner became intoxicated and aggressive during a meeting at his home in Reno, Nevada, prompting her to lock herself in a bathroom out of fear.

Zhou has also claimed that she and Renner developed a romantic relationship prior to their collaboration but alleged he later denied any such relationship publicly and refused to promote their films together. “No woman, filmmaker, or creative should have to work under such emotional and psychological pressure while trying to protect her name and the integrity of her work,” she added in her posts.

As of now, Jeremy Renner has not publicly responded to the allegations. These developments mark a significant moment in the ongoing conversation surrounding misconduct in Hollywood, fueling discussions about the treatment of women in the entertainment industry.

Stay tuned for updates as this developing story unfolds.
