UPDATE: A father has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of his 5-month-old son, declared a homicide following a chilling investigation. Julian Morgan Matias Taylor, 27, was apprehended on August 18, 2025, in Palmdale, California, and is now facing serious charges for the death of Xavier Prince Taylor, which has shocked the San Jose community.
Authorities report that on November 3, 2024, emergency services responded to a 911 call regarding baby Xavier, who was found unconscious. Responding officers discovered the baby on the floor, with his father performing CPR. Xavier was rushed to Valley Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries on November 9, prompting a homicide investigation.
The autopsy revealed that the infant suffered from severe and repeated physical abuse, including multiple traumatic injuries. Police have since charged Taylor with one felony count of assault on a child likely to cause great bodily injury resulting in death, which could lead to a prison sentence of 25 years to life if convicted.
The alarming details surrounding Xavier’s injuries have raised serious questions. An initial investigation found that he had two brain bleeds and a fractured femur, injuries doctors later determined were inconsistent with the fall described by Taylor.
In his initial statement, Taylor claimed Xavier fell from a small couch while swaddled. However, he later altered his account, admitting he noticed bruising on his son and that his fiancée’s mother—a registered nurse—examined the child but found no immediate concerns.
Detective Christina Jize of the San Jose Police Department concluded that the injuries sustained by Xavier were the result of intentional acts while under Taylor’s care. The police affidavit indicates that medical experts deemed the injuries non-accidental, further complicating Taylor’s defense.
Taylor now remains in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail without bail. He was scheduled for arraignment shortly after his arrest.
This case has not only captured local attention but has also raised broader concerns about child safety and welfare. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the SJPD homicide unit at 408-277-5283.
As this story develops, the community watches closely, demanding justice for baby Xavier. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
