UPDATE: Disney’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is dominating the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second consecutive weekend, showcasing its box office strength as it adds another £3 million ($4.1 million). The film’s total earnings now stand at an impressive £15.3 million ($20.4 million), according to Comscore.
In a noteworthy debut, Paramount’s reboot of “The Naked Gun” opened in second place, grossing $2.4 million. Meanwhile, Universal’s animated sequel, “The Bad Guys 2,” secured third place in its second weekend with $1.7 million, bringing its cumulative earnings to $6.5 million.
Continuing its successful run, “Jurassic World Rebirth” earned $1.6 million, pushing its total to $41.9 million. Warner Bros.’ “Superman” also made waves, adding $1.6 million in its fourth week for a robust total of $32.1 million.
In a startling entry, Sony’s horror flick “Bring Her Back” debuted with $1.6 million, following limited previews. Yash Raj Films’ popular Bollywood romance “Saiyaara” climbed to seventh place, amassing $649,168 for a total of $2.7 million.
The box office landscape is competitive, with “F1” closely trailing in eighth position, taking $645,076 to elevate its total to $27.5 million. Meanwhile, Paramount’s “Smurfs” has added $469,128 in its third week, reaching a total of $5 million. The Punjabi-language comedy “Chal Mera Putt 4” made its debut in tenth place with a launch of $358,826.
Looking ahead, two major studio releases are set to shake up the box office this week. Warner Bros. will release “Weapons” on Friday, August 8, across over 300 locations. Disney will also revive its family-friendly magic with “Freakier Friday,” adding a new chapter to its body-swap comedy franchise.
Notable re-releases include Ang Lee’s “Sense and Sensibility,” marking its 30th anniversary and playing in over 100 cinemas. Additionally, Vertigo is debuting Julien Colonna’s Cannes-acclaimed drama “The Kingdom.”
