Elderly Woman Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Orange County

UPDATE: A tragic incident in Orange County has left an elderly woman dead after being struck by a suspected DUI driver. At approximately 6 p.m. on July 12, police responded to a serious crash near Brookhurst Street and Crailet Drive in Huntington Beach.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Caryl Margulies, an 85-year-old woman, unconscious on the roadway. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Authorities have confirmed that Margulies had been reported missing prior to this devastating incident.

The driver involved in the crash, identified only as a 62-year-old man from Costa Mesa, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, with police asking for the public’s assistance.

This incident underscores the critical issue of impaired driving and its tragic consequences. The community is left reeling as they mourn the loss of Margulies, a victim of a preventable tragedy.
