This defeat unfolded during an action-packed Wednesday that featured over 200 games across Eastern Massachusetts, including more than 115 hockey matchups.

In other thrilling highlights from the day, Melrose senior wrestling captains Jack Shea and Scott Santos both achieved their 100th career wins in a decisive 62-17 victory over Burlington. Coach Larry Tremblay praised their leadership, stating, “Both guys are great leaders. We have really good captains.”
Junior Violet Lorusso reached a milestone of her own, scoring her 100th career point for Shawsheen/Bedford/Lowell girls’ hockey during a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory against Wayland/Weston. Meanwhile, Woburn junior Savannah Powers and Beverly boys’ hockey senior Logan Bowen also celebrated their 100-point achievements in nail-biting contests.
The wrestling scene was equally vibrant, as Middleborough senior captain Josh Gonsalves secured his 119th career win against Rockland, solidifying his place in the program’s history.
Adding to the intensity, Addie Harrington from Frontier Regional became the latest player to join the elite 1,000-point club, achieving this milestone with a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter of a 58-39 victory over Wahconah. Harrington finished with 23 points, following in the footsteps of her father and uncle, both accomplished basketball players.
In a surprise upset, unranked Woburn defeated No. 12 Winchester in boys’ hockey, with a 2-1 overtime win thanks to Branden Carta’s clutch goal and Adam Gerry’s stellar 19 saves.
The day was also marked by thrilling overtime victories, particularly in girls’ hockey. Melrose edged Burlington 2-1, while Wakefield triumphed over Stoneham/Wilmington 3-2, with Paige Eriksen scoring just 38 seconds into the extra session.
