Dubai Chocolate Craze Surges as Bay Area Shops Join Trend

BREAKING: The irresistible allure of Dubai chocolate is sweeping through the Bay Area, driven by a surge in demand for this rich delicacy. Just confirmed by local candy makers, the Dubai chocolate trend is not only thriving but expanding rapidly as new shops and brands jump on the bandwagon.

Consumer interest in Dubai chocolate is at an all-time high, with local favorites like San Jose Candy Kitchen reporting sales of up to 30 to 40 bars daily. This trend follows a viral moment sparked by Sarah Hamouda, a British-Egyptian entrepreneur, who introduced the dessert bar at her Fix Dessert Chocolatier in the Emirates. TikTok influencers, including Maria Vehera, helped propel this confection into the mainstream, making it a must-try for dessert lovers everywhere.

“Do you make Dubai chocolate?” became the go-to question for Ajay Patel and his wife, Falguni, at their downtown San Jose shop. After experimenting and perfecting their recipe with California-grown pistachios, they launched their first Dubai chocolate bars in August 2025. Now, these decadent treats account for roughly half of their business, showcasing the high quality that sets them apart from commercial brands.

Ajay notes, “Customers can tell the difference. They tell me this is the best,” confirming that their pistachio cream, made with 80% pistachios, is a game changer. As Valentine’s Day approaches, they expect an even busier season, emphasizing the local impact of this sweet craze.

Across the Bay, other chocolatiers are also embracing the Dubai chocolate phenomenon. Hanna’s Chocolates in Pleasanton crafts both light and dark chocolate Dubai bonbons, with prices starting at $8 for mini bars and $35 for half-pound bars. Meanwhile, Fleur de Cocoa in Los Gatos features a unique Dubai chocolate bar that combines dark chocolate with pistachios and kataifi.

Starbucks is also getting involved by rolling out Dubai chocolate-inspired drinks and snacks this month. Customers can expect to find Dubai chocolate “bites” and lattes topped with pistachio foam alongside classic offerings.

Major brands like Ghirardelli and Lindt have also embraced the trend, producing their own versions of Dubai-style candies. The growing availability of these treats in grocery stores highlights the trend’s mainstream acceptance. Baskin Robbins recently introduced a limited-time Dubai chocolate pistachio sundae, showcasing the flavor’s widespread appeal.

As this culinary trend continues to gain traction, it raises the question: will Dubai chocolate become a permanent fixture in the dessert landscape? With its rich flavor and unique texture, many culinary experts believe the answer is a resounding yes. Keep an eye on local shops as they innovate and expand their offerings, ensuring this delicious trend is here to stay.

For those eager to try Dubai chocolate, visit San Jose Candy Kitchen at 200 S. First St. from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. Other local favorites include Hanna’s Chocolates and Fleur de Cocoa, both dedicated to serving this delightful and trending confection. Don’t miss out—indulge in the Dubai chocolate experience today!
