Disney Launches Urgent Campaign for ‘Andor’ as Emmys Approach

UPDATE: With less than a month until the Emmy Awards, Disney is intensifying its efforts to ensure that Andor clinches top honors. The studio has unveiled the REBELIÓN zine, a bold strategy to highlight the series’ 14 Emmy® nominations and celebrate the creative minds behind the hit show.

This exclusive zine is already making waves among press and voters as it showcases the talents of the filmmakers and craftspeople who brought Andor to life. Disney describes the zine as a tribute to those instrumental in the show’s success.

Residents of Los Angeles can grab a physical copy at select locations, including Secret Headquarters in Atwater Village and Stories and Heavy Manners Zine Library in Echo Park. For those unable to visit these spots, a digital version is available online.

Within the pages of the REBELIÓN zine, fans will find a captivating pitch for the upcoming second season, alongside striking propaganda posters featuring beloved characters like Cassian and Mon Mothma. The zine also includes concept art and images of key Empire characters, providing a rich glimpse into the show’s universe.

In a related event, Tony Gilroy, the showrunner, made a notable appearance at a pop-up event at Kiosk-O-Thèque in West Hollywood, engaging fans and voters ahead of the Emmys.

As anticipation builds, the Emmy Awards are set to air on September 14, 2023, where the world will watch to see if Andor secures any prestigious awards for its final season.

While there are whispers of a physical release for the second season, the REBELIÓN zine may be among the last pieces of promotional material we see for Andor. An art book is slated for release in May 2026, but fans hoping for a deeper dive into the series’ writing will be disappointed; Gilroy has confirmed there are no plans to publish full scripts, aiming to protect the show from potential generative AI exploitation.

Why This Matters: Disney’s strategic push for Andor underscores the show’s significance in the streaming landscape, reflecting a broader trend of studios mobilizing to capture awards attention. As the Emmy date approaches, the stakes are higher than ever for fans and creators alike.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops, and don’t miss the chance to catch Andor at the Emmys!
