Dallas Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs Provides Key Health Update on Micah Parsons

UPDATE: In a dramatic postgame scene, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs provided a crucial health update on teammate Micah Parsons following their preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. The game, which ended in a 31-13 victory for the Cowboys, was overshadowed by Parsons’ ongoing contract negotiations and a concerning back injury that could impact his availability for the season opener.

As the countdown to the 2025 NFL season intensifies, Parsons was seen alone on a training table for much of the game, prompting concern about his fitness for the Cowboys’ first match against the Super Bowl LIX champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 4. Diggs, acting as a spokesperson for Parsons, confirmed that the All-Pro linebacker had undergone an MRI, stating, “His back is kind of tight… He was really sore this morning.”

The drama continues as team owner Jerry Jones hinted earlier that Parsons’ back issues may be linked to the stress of contract negotiations. Diggs expressed empathy for his friend, saying, “I wish everything could be handled… He’s the heart and soul of this team.” His comments reveal the emotional weight both players carry amid the pressure of contract talks and physical health concerns.

When asked about Parsons’ potential to play in Week 1, Diggs remained cautious, stating, “It depends on how his back feels.” Meanwhile, defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa expressed frustration when asked about the situation, indicating that uncertainty looms over Parsons’ readiness.

On the flip side, Diggs himself is also dealing with a health scare. After undergoing surgery on his left knee earlier this year, he provided an optimistic update on his recovery. “I feel good. I feel way better than I should right now,” Diggs said, although he added, “Maybe, maybe not” when asked about his availability for the season opener.

Both players are crucial to the Cowboys’ success, and the team’s performance may hinge on their health. The Cowboys’ coaching staff remains hopeful, with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stating he feels good about Parsons’ chances to suit up for Week 1.

With just under two weeks to go before the season kicks off, the Cowboys face mounting pressure to finalize their roster and ensure their star players are fit for action. As the clock ticks down, the urgency around Parsons’ contract resolution and both players’ health statuses will keep fans and analysts on edge.

As the Cowboys prepare for their season opener, the football community watches closely. The stakes are high, and both Diggs and Parsons are eager to return to the field. With their futures uncertain but spirits high, the Cowboys gear up for a critical season ahead.

Stay tuned for further developments as the Cowboys navigate these challenges leading up to their highly anticipated matchup against the Eagles.
