Marie Diane Giunta (Johnson) of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, passed away on February 6, 2026, after a prolonged illness. Surrounded by her family, she was 59 years old. Born on April 9 in Boston, Massachusetts, to Robert and Marie Johnson, Giunta was known for her loving nature and deep commitment to family and community.
Throughout her life, Marie was a devoted wife to her husband, Guy Giunta, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to her children, Guy, Marie, and Pasquale (known as Patrick), and a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Genevieve and Mila. Her family described her as a natural caretaker, whose home was a sanctuary filled with love and laughter.
Giunta’s impact extended beyond her own family. She became a trusted babysitter in her community, nurturing countless children and earning their affection. Local families fondly recalled her driving the little ones to and from school in her large Suburban or station wagon, a daily routine that exemplified her commitment to fostering a sense of belonging among the children.
After her children graduated, Marie pursued further education in Early Childhood Development, eventually working for over a decade at The Ark Learning Center. There, she made a significant impact in the infant room, nurturing and shaping the lives of many young children with her genuine care.
Marie found solace in her surroundings, taking pleasure in the views from her home, where she enjoyed the surrounding mountains, vibrant flower beds, and local wildlife. This connection to nature was integral to her peace of mind and happiness.
She is survived by her siblings: Robert (Kerin McLoughlin) of Methuen, Gertrude Dellorco (Robert) of Franklin, Laura Briggs of Plymouth, Francis (Sheilah) of Franklin, Diane Johnson-Landolphi (Mark) of Franklin, Richard (Mary) of Foxboro, and Thomas (Anne Marie) of Franklin. Additionally, her in-laws, including Louis (Loretta) of Dedham, Joe of Sanbornton, and Tony (Maryska) of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews, will also remember her fondly.
Marie was predeceased by her father, Robert, her mother, Marie, and her brother, David Johnson.
