Eugene Bittel, a beloved member of the Hartford community, passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 5, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut, Bittel dedicated much of his life to public service, working for both the state and the city of Hartford.
Bittel’s sudden passing has left a void in the lives of many. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Bittel, who has lost not only a partner but her closest friend. The couple shared a deep bond that was evident to all who knew them. He also leaves behind his daughter, Moraith, and stepdaughter Ariana, along with his brother, Peter Bittel. His family continues to grow with the presence of several step-grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Charlotte.
Throughout his life, Bittel was known for his kindness and dedication to his family and friends. His extended family, including numerous cousins and lifelong friends, will remember him for his warm spirit and unwavering support. The impact he had on those around him will be felt for many years to come.
A memorial service to celebrate Eugene Bittel’s life will be held on January 16, from 14:00 to 16:00, at the Cremation Society of CT, located at 8007 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, CT 06095. Family and friends are invited to honor his memory and share their remembrances of a man who touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to honor Bittel’s memory to consider planting a living memorial, symbolizing the lasting impact he had on his community and loved ones.
