UPDATE: Clintondale Community Schools has just announced the immediate appointment of two new district administrators, following a unanimous vote at the school board meeting on January 12, 2023. This development marks a significant step in enhancing the district’s leadership team.
Shauna Hemler has been appointed as the new Chief Academic Officer, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Heather Halpin in December. Hemler brings over 20 years of experience within the district, having previously served as the principal of McGlinnen Elementary School. Superintendent Kenneth Janczarek praised her, stating, “Dr. Hemler is an exceptional instructional leader who understands our students, our staff, and our community.”
While Hemler’s new role takes effect immediately, she will continue to lead McGlinnen until a successor is appointed. Hemler’s educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oakland University, a Master’s degree in Education from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Doctorate in Executive Leadership from the University of Charleston.
In addition, Kevin Taratuta has been confirmed as the district’s Chief Financial Officer. Taratuta previously held the role of Chief Financial and Operations Officer for Birmingham Public Schools and has extensive experience in educational finance. Janczarek highlighted his qualifications, noting, “Mr. Taratuta brings a wealth of experience in school finance as a leader in a business department.”
Taratuta holds a Master of Accountancy from Oakland University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Michigan State University. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and possesses the Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.
These appointments come at a crucial time for Clintondale Community Schools as they strive to improve academic outcomes and financial management in the district. Stakeholders are eager to see how Hemler and Taratuta will shape the future of education and finance within the community.
Next Steps: The district will begin the search for Hemler’s successor as principal of McGlinnen Elementary. Community members are advised to stay tuned for developments as these new leaders take on their roles and implement their visions for the district.
This urgent update reflects the ongoing commitment of Clintondale Community Schools to foster effective educational leadership and financial stewardship.
