Cheryl Hines Teams Up with Melania Trump, Sparks Hollywood Backlash

UPDATE: Actress Cheryl Hines has joined forces with First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Usha Vance during a visit to Joint Base Andrews on October 9, 2023. The meeting, part of an American Red Cross program for military families, has ignited backlash from Hollywood insiders who are unsettled by Hines’ shift towards conservative politics.

Hines, 60, was seen wearing a turtleneck sweater embroidered with an American flag while helping assemble care packages for deployed servicemen and women. Her alignment with the Trump family is notable, especially as she is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. However, her recent political stance has left many of her Hollywood peers shocked.

Sources close to Hines revealed to The Daily Mail that some friends avoid discussing politics with her due to her dramatic transformation from a liberal to a conservative viewpoint. One friend expressed disbelief, stating, “It’s like she’s gone MAGA, or at least MAHA, which is just so… beyond comprehension to me.” Another source lamented the change, saying, “She was so liberal before,” highlighting the stark contrast in her political beliefs.

The controversy escalated in a tense appearance on The View where Hines defended her husband against co-host Sunny Hostin’s criticism. Hostin labeled Kennedy as “the least qualified Department of Health and Human Services head that we’ve had in history.” Hines countered passionately, referencing her husband’s career advocating for health safety, particularly in a landmark case where a school groundskeeper was awarded $289 million after claiming his cancer was caused by Roundup weed killer.

Reflecting on her personal challenges, Hines recently shared with Page Six her struggles amid public scrutiny, including the tragic loss of her nephew. “I went through a lot of darkness,” she revealed, adding that dealing with loss during political chaos was particularly difficult. Hines emphasized her commitment to her husband, stating, “There are extremes on both sides… I thought it was important for me to say, ‘This is why I love him.’”

As Hines navigates her new chapter in the public eye, the reaction from her former colleagues remains critical. The fallout from her alignment with the Trump family continues to unfold, making this a story to watch in the coming days. How will Hines’ relationship with Hollywood evolve, and what impact will her political stance have on her career? The developments are ongoing, and fans are eager to see what unfolds next for the actress.
