UPDATE: A remarkable cat named Elliot has just been crowned Pet of the Week after captivating hearts with his dog-like fetching skills. This one-year-old feline has taken the internet by storm, showcasing a unique talent that has pet lovers buzzing.
Nancee Burrows, Elliot’s owner, shared the heartwarming story with Newsweek, revealing that she rescued him as a kitten last April. For the past eight months, Elliot has developed a passion for playing fetch, surprising everyone with his playful antics. “He brings his mini toy mouse to me, drops it at my feet, and waits for me to throw it,” Burrows explained. “It’s like having a cat/dog!”
This delightful feature comes amid a week filled with emotional pet stories, including a senior dog finding a forever home after six long years at a shelter. The joy of pets continues to uplift and inspire their owners, making them beloved family members.
In addition to Elliot, this week’s finalists include Lil’Kitty, a 13-year-old cat who unexpectedly became a part of eMike DuBois’s life when he moved into his new home. “She runs the show here,” DuBois said. “If it’s not her idea, she won’t eat.” Despite her diva-like behavior, Lil’Kitty has been a source of comfort for DuBois after the loss of his wife, checking in on him nightly.
Also featured is Zero, a Siberian Husky mix who has surprisingly become friends with his new feline companion, Moo-Moo. Katie Outler shared that their initial introductions were cautious, but now the two pets snuggle together. “We thought it would take months, but they’ve adapted beautifully,” she noted.
Tragic yet heartwarming, Katrina Pierce reflects on her two cats, Lita and Grumble, who shared a deep bond. After losing Grumble to an accident, she cherishes the memories they created together. “I’ll always remember what a sweet-hearted boy he was,” Pierce shared, emphasizing the lasting impact pets have on our lives.
