UPDATE: Carmel sophomore libero Beca Arreola is making headlines as she leads her volleyball team to a stunning 7-1 record this season, showcasing her resilience and talent on the court. After overcoming significant challenges, Arreola is now a key player for the Corsairs, who are poised for their first winning season since 2021.
Arreola’s journey back to volleyball is nothing short of inspiring. Just two years ago, she faced struggles on her club team that left her questioning her love for the sport. “The coach did not believe in me,” she recalled. After taking a break for over two months, Arreola used that time to train rigorously and return stronger than ever.
Her dedication paid off last season when she helped the freshman team go undefeated. Coach David Pazely stated, “We couldn’t ignore her.” Arreola’s impressive stats included 34 digs and three aces during her call-up to the varsity team, where she played a crucial role in playoff wins.
Now, as a starting libero, Arreola has already amassed 67 digs this season, including a standout performance with 10 digs during a two-game sweep against Marian Central Catholic on September 4, 2025. Her remarkable 97% serving percentage and eight aces further demonstrate her impact on the court.
“Pazely emphasized her ability to read the game and make crucial plays. “She covers a ton of ground and often flies out of nowhere to make a spectacular play just when it looks like the ball is going to hit the ground,” he said.
Arreola’s teammates have also taken notice. Senior setter Suzy Trznadel praised Arreola’s contributions, noting, “Beca changes the dynamic of the team. Her ability to read the hitter and adjust to the blockers is impeccable.” Trznadel highlighted how Arreola’s calmness and confidence create trust within the team.
Second-year starter Charlotte Shepherd encouraged Arreola to join her club team, Wisconsin Juniors, recognizing her exceptional volleyball IQ and communication skills. “Her attitude on the court is always focused and competitive,” Shepherd added.
Looking ahead, Arreola remains dedicated to improving herself and her team. “I want to grow with my team,” she stated. “I have to be loud and constantly talking, getting better with my serve-receive.”
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Arreola and the Corsairs, who are aiming to continue their winning streak and make a statement in the league. With her hard work and determination, Beca Arreola is not just playing volleyball; she is redefining what it means to be a leader on the court.
