Cape May County Man Arrested for Alleged Child Sexual Assault

A 34-year-old man from the Villas, located in Lower Township, has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor. Rayvon Knight faces serious charges, including second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigation Initiated After Report

The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that on June 30, 2023, the Lower Township Police Department received a report regarding a potential sexual assault involving a minor. Following this report, law enforcement launched a thorough investigation, which resulted in Knight’s arrest. He is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center as he awaits further court proceedings.

In New Jersey, a conviction for a second-degree crime may lead to a prison sentence of up to ten years, highlighting the severity of the allegations against Knight.

Call for Public Assistance

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland has urged anyone with additional information related to this case to come forward. Individuals are encouraged to reach out to his office by calling (609) 465-1135.

It is important to note that in the legal system, charges are mere accusations, and all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This principle is fundamental to the justice process, ensuring fair treatment for all accused.

Recent years have seen a troubling trend in New Jersey, with numerous educators and coaches facing criminal charges for sexual offenses. The community remains vigilant as authorities continue to address these serious issues.
