UPDATE: The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department is urgently seeking buyers for its former fire station, Station 15-1, located on Interstate Parkway. Originally listed for sale in June 2025, the building has remained unoccupied for fire service use as modern trucks no longer fit in its original bays.
Fire Chief Dan Burkhouse highlighted the issue, stating, “The size of our apparatus has increased dramatically, and these buildings just aren’t big enough for our trucks anymore.” Built in 1958, the station has undergone several renovations but now primarily serves as a social hall.
The property spans just over 11 acres and can accommodate over 220 people with seating, full bathrooms, a kitchen, cold storage, and a garage. Department President Sean Galbraith emphasized its potential, saying, “It could be used for just about anything with the right imagination, within zoning requirements.” The department envisions the space as a community center or daycare facility, appealing to various organizations.
With ongoing maintenance costs becoming unsustainable, the department aims to sell the building to fund updates at its other stations, specifically the Custer City Valley and West Branch Valley locations, which also face space limitations. Galbraith stated, “We really think this is our best fiscal move to get rid of this building and use those funds to update a building more centrally located to where our first responders are.”
All reasonable offers will be considered, and interested parties are encouraged to reach out via phone at (814) 362-3280 or email at [email protected]. This property represents a unique opportunity for community growth and development, and the department is eager to find the right buyer.
