Berkeley Studio Launches Dream Feature Film “In Your Dreams”

BREAKING: A dream becomes reality as Berkeley’s Kuku Studios unveils its first animated feature film, “In Your Dreams,”Alex Woo. The film is set to premiere in just a few weeks, marking a significant milestone in Woo’s nine-year journey since founding the studio.

Woo, a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, shared, “Every film student dreams of making a feature film on the biggest scale.” His vision is now realized with this emotional tale exploring family and imagination.

The film follows siblings Stevie and Elliot, who discover a magical book enabling them to enter their dreams. Their adventure leads them to seek the Sandman, hoping to mend their parents’ troubled marriage. This captivating narrative promises to resonate with audiences, evoking both laughter and tears.

Actor Simi Liu, who voices the father character, expressed excitement about being part of a project that mirrors the impactful films of his childhood. “It feels like the movies that I grew up watching and loving,” Liu said, emphasizing the film’s emotional depth.

Woo’s extensive background includes a decade at Pixar, where he honed his storytelling craft alongside industry legends like Brad Bird of Ratatouille fame and Andrew Stanton from Wall-E. “My time there was a master class in storytelling,” he stated, highlighting the influence of his Pixar experience on his filmmaking approach.

The Bay Area has long been a source of inspiration for Woo. “I want to continue the legacy established by the cinematic forefathers,” he said, aiming to create films that touch audiences deeply.

As “In Your Dreams” gears up for its release, fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for further announcements and promotional events. This film not only embodies Woo’s personal journey but also serves as a testament to the vibrant creativity flourishing in Berkeley.
