Gerald William Woodvine, a cherished resident of Kingston, NY, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the age of 82. His death followed a long and valiant struggle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Surrounded by his beloved grandchildren at Golden Hill, Woodvine leaves behind a legacy marked by humor, generosity, and enduring friendships.
Woodvine is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen (Fischer) Woodvine, whom he married on April 9, 1965. The couple shared a life filled with love and companionship, raising two children, Melanie Woodvine and her husband, Rick Spriggs, of Kingston, and Mark Woodvine of North Hollywood, CA. Their family also includes five grandchildren: Schuyler Schoonmaker of West Wyoming, PA, Jordan Hargrave (Sam) of Saugerties, NY, Fallon Spriggs (Kevin Squires) of Kingston, NY, Justine Hill (Tom) of Manlius, NY, and Brett Spriggs (Shelby) of Saugerties, NY, alongside four great-grandchildren, Morgan Hill, Nolan and Norah Spriggs, and Finley Hargrave.
Funeral Arrangements and Community Support
In addition to his immediate family, Woodvine is survived by his brother-in-law Terry Fisher (Martha), sisters-in-law Sondra Woodvine, Betty, Joanne, Josephine, and Rose Fischer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.
The Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. is overseeing the funeral arrangements. Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects at the funeral home on February 22nd from 14:00 to 16:00. A funeral service will take place the following day at 11:00, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
