BREAKING: Labaron Philon Jr. delivered a stunning performance, scoring 25 points to lead the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide to a thrilling 103-96 upset over the fifth-ranked St. John’s Red Storm at Madison Square Garden earlier today.
Philon’s clutch shooting included a deep 3-pointer that secured a crucial 98-88 lead with just two minutes remaining, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. This victory marks Alabama’s second consecutive win of the season, improving their record to 2-0.
The game was a rollercoaster, with Alabama initially taking control late in the first half, outscoring St. John’s 16-6 to end the half with a 53-44 lead. St. John’s, however, rallied back in the second half, even taking an 81-80 lead after a 3-pointer by Joson Sanon with 8:13 left on the clock.
Alabama’s balanced attack featured Aden Holloway, who contributed 21 points after returning from a wrist injury, and Taylor Bol Bowen along with Latrell Wrightsell, who each added 17 points. The Crimson Tide shot an efficient 48.1% from the field and made 11 3-pointers, showcasing their offensive firepower.
