UPDATE: In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, the Acalanes Dons crushed the University of San Francisco with a decisive 72-48 victory on December 2, 2025. This dominating performance comes just two games into the season and highlights Acalanes’ formidable potential as they move forward.
The Dons, showcasing an impressive offense, opened the game with a rapid 14-2 run that forced University to call an early timeout. Acalanes’ fluid teamwork and precision shooting overwhelmed their opponents, with senior point guard Lexi Le leading the charge, scoring 20 points, alongside 19 points from Sofia Fernandez and 11 points from freshman Millie Jones.
“This win is big for us as we’re still figuring out our new lineup,” said Acalanes coach Margaret Gartner, whose team lost four key starters from last season. “Every game is crucial as we build our chemistry.”
On the defensive end, Acalanes stifled University’s fast-paced offense, holding them to less than 50 points. University’s standout player, Anna Beischer, managed to score 21 points and grab 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
“We need to work on getting stronger and being more physical,” Le noted, emphasizing the importance of integrating younger players into the team dynamics.
In other notable games, Bellarmine also secured a victory, defeating Monte Vista 53-38. Junior Will Corbett shone with a high-scoring performance, netting 26 points. Bellarmine’s big third-quarter push, outscoring Monte Vista 16-7, solidified their win and improved their record to 2-0.
