UPDATE: The 89th Northwest Water Carnival concluded yesterday, July 20, 2023, in Detroit Lakes, leaving attendees buzzing with excitement after a spectacular finale featuring a parade and thrilling water ski show. The festival, which spanned ten days, attracted record crowds, marking a triumphant return to summer celebrations.
The weekend kicked off with the inaugural Teen Bash on the Beach, where despite initial rain, participants engaged in lively activities ranging from axe throwing to tossing beach balls. As the weather improved, the atmosphere transformed into a vibrant summer gathering.
On Sports Saturday, the sun shone brightly over City Park, City Beach, and Peoples Park. Throngs of locals and visitors participated in friendly competitions, showcasing their skills on pickleball and volleyball courts, while families enjoyed leisurely games of frisbee and bean bags along the picturesque shores of Detroit Lake.
A highlight of the festival was the beloved Pet and Doll Parade, where families and their furry friends paraded from Langford Street to the City Park Bandshell. The event culminated in a delightful pet show, bringing joy and laughter to attendees of all ages.

The weekend also featured exhilarating tandem skydiving experiences courtesy of Skydive Fargo and scenic helicopter rides operated by Lake Superior Helicopters, departing from the Becker County Fairgrounds.
