Samsung Unveils Tri-Fold Smartphone This Week, Excludes US Market

Samsung is set to launch its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone this week, but the device will not be available in the United States. According to industry tipster Evan Blass, the new device will debut in South Korea, parts of the greater Chinese market, including Singapore and Taiwan, and potentially the United Arab Emirates.

Blass shared this information on the social platform X, indicating that the US and European markets are excluded from the initial launch. He expressed a desire to be proven wrong but remains confident in his assessment that Samsung is strategically avoiding these regions for its first tri-fold smartphone release.

Launch Details and Specifications

The official announcement is expected during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will take place from October 31 to November 1, 2025, in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Reports suggest that Samsung aims to unveil the device on the first day of the summit, October 31, although this date has yet to be confirmed.

Pricing for the tri-fold smartphone is anticipated to be around $2,800, making it approximately $1,000 more expensive than the existing Galaxy Z Fold 7. The device is expected to feature a 6.5-inch cover display and a 10-inch main display when fully opened, with an additional 8-inch display for the middle-fold configuration.

Under the hood, the smartphone is rumored to include the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with 16GB of RAM and a substantial 1TB of storage. Additionally, the device may boast a 200-megapixel main camera along with ultrawide and periscope telephoto camera capabilities, enhancing its photography features.

Market Strategy and Consumer Impact

Samsung’s decision to exclude the US market from the launch of its tri-fold smartphone raises questions about its marketing strategy and consumer access. With the growing interest in foldable technology, particularly in markets outside the US, Samsung appears to be focusing on regions where it anticipates stronger sales performance.

As the launch date approaches, eager consumers and tech enthusiasts worldwide await further details about the device’s features and specifications. While the absence of the US market is notable, Samsung’s push into Asia and the Middle East demonstrates its commitment to expanding its footprint in emerging markets.

The tri-fold smartphone represents Samsung’s innovation in foldable technology and could set the stage for future advancements in the smartphone industry. As anticipation builds, the tech community will be closely monitoring the launch to see how this new device performs in the competitive landscape of smartphones.
