Samsung has begun rolling out the January 2026 security patch for its flagship foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This update follows the recent release of the security patch for other models, including the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A55.
Details of the Update
The update is currently being deployed in South Korea, with plans for a swift expansion to additional markets. Samsung typically implements these updates within days, so users can expect the rollout to occur promptly. As the update reaches various regions, it will be released in stages, meaning some users may need to exercise patience.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will receive the firmware version F966NKSS7AYLT, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be updated to firmware version F766NKSS7AYLT. This latest security patch includes a total of 55 fixes. Notably, 23 of these fixes have been sourced from Google, although 2 do not apply to Samsung devices. Additionally, 4 patches originate from Samsung Semiconductor, while 30 have been provided by Samsung Mobile.
Security Risk Assessment
The security update categorizes 28 of the patches as ‘high-risk,’ with one patch labeled as critical and 3 assessed as moderate-risk. This assessment underscores the importance of keeping devices updated for optimal security protection.
Users will be notified when the update becomes available on their devices. To expedite the process, individuals can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings, then Software update, and selecting Download and install.
In the coming days and weeks, other Samsung smartphones will also receive the January security patch. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to be the next lineup to receive the update, followed closely by the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
