Rode Launches Versatile Wireless Micro Camera Kit for Creators

Rode has unveiled its new Wireless Micro Camera Kit, designed to enhance the audio quality and usability for content creators. This kit introduces universal camera compatibility, making it significantly more flexible than its predecessor. The updated receiver unit now features an integrated display, improving accessibility and control over settings for users.

The original Wireless Micro was aimed primarily at smartphone users, providing a compact and efficient solution for capturing high-quality audio. With this latest update, Rode expands the system’s capabilities to accommodate a wider range of modern camera systems. Importantly, it retains the ability to connect with mobile devices, ensuring versatility across various platforms.

Enhanced Features for Content Creators

The new receiver unit has undergone a complete redesign, moving away from the previous model’s limitations. It now includes both 3.5mm TRS and USB-C outputs, catering to full-sized camera setups. The addition of a 1.1-inch AMOLED display allows content creators to easily adjust settings, a feature that was lacking in earlier iterations.

Rode has emphasized that the new receiver unit can be securely mounted on the top of camera systems thanks to an integrated cold shoe mount. This stability enhances the overall user experience, allowing for quick adjustments in various shooting environments. The display provides real-time feedback, enabling users to configure their settings confidently.

The transmitter system remains robust, featuring built-in microphones in each of the two units. These transmitters automatically pair with the receiver and boast an omnidirectional pickup pattern, designed to capture sound from all directions. Additionally, they incorporate Intelligent GainAssist technology, which automatically balances audio levels, ensuring optimal sound quality.

Battery Life and Portability

All components of the Wireless Micro Camera Kit fit into a compact charging case, which significantly extends battery life. Users can expect up to 21 hours of total use per charge, with the case providing two full recharges. The receiver automatically detects when connected to a camera, powering on and off as needed, which adds to the system’s convenience.

Rode also announced that this release marks the second generation of its camera receiver. Customers who purchased the original Wireless Micro USB-C or Lightning configuration before October 30, 2025 can still redeem the older compact receiver, ensuring continued support for existing users.

The Wireless Micro Camera Kit is available for purchase starting today at a price of $149. Although the first-generation camera receiver is not included with this kit, it remains available for separate purchase.

This new offering from Rode aims to solidify its position in the rapidly evolving market of audio recording solutions, providing content creators with powerful tools to enhance their projects.
