MINIX has introduced the ER937-AI, an affordable fully qualified Copilot+ PC priced under $920. Established in 2004 and based in Hong Kong, MINIX is known for producing mini PCs, CarPlay solutions, chargers, and portable monitors. This new model aims to deliver robust performance for both everyday tasks and advanced applications, including AI processing.
The ER937-AI is powered by AMD’s latest mobile CPU, released in July 2025, built on the Zen 5 architecture with Socket FP8. Featuring 12 cores that effectively double to 24 threads thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), this processor operates at a base speed of 2.0 GHz and can boost up to 5.1 GHz. The integrated Radeon 890 M GPU offers a maximum frequency of 2900 MHz across 16 cores, which positions it similarly to NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1650 or GTX 1070 in gaming benchmarks.
A significant highlight of the ER937-AI lies in its dedicated NPU, capable of processing 50 TOPS, with a combined potential of up to 80 TOPS when factoring in the CPU and GPU cores. This capability qualifies the device as a Copilot+ PC, making it suitable for AI-related tasks. Other specifications include DDR5 memory operating at 5600 MT/s, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, enhancing connectivity options.
Design and Usability
The packaging of the ER937-AI reflects a premium feel, with the mini PC securely housed in foam padding. Alongside the unit, customers will find a user guide, power lead, HDMI cable, and a bag of screws. The design showcases a robust metallic build, weighing nearly a kilogram, which contributes to its durable nature while maintaining portability.
In terms of physical interfaces, the ER937-AI supports multiple displays. It possesses two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 2.0 ports, alongside two Thunderbolt 4 ports that also provide power delivery for external monitors. The rear connectivity options include two 2.5 GbE ports and a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, while the front features an additional Thunderbolt 4 port and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, alongside a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Accessing the internals for upgrades is user-friendly, as the ER937-AI allows for tool-less management of SSDs and memory. The unit supports a second NVMe SSD, thus offering flexibility for storage expansion.
Performance and Benchmarking
Upon booting, the ER937-AI runs Windows 11 Pro, eliminating the need for an additional license. Initial setup is straightforward, and users can expect several updates to enhance system performance. Benchmark tests conducted using Cinebench 2024, 3DMark, and PCMark 10 reflect the device’s solid capabilities.
The ER937-AI outperformed the Ryzen 9 8945HS in multi-core tasks, showcasing the advantages of AMD’s SMT technology. In gaming benchmarks, the integrated Radeon 890 M GPU demonstrated commendable performance, especially at 720p and 1080p settings.
For browsing performance, the ER937-AI performed comparably with leading browsers, with Microsoft Edge marginally outperforming others in both low and high scores.
Despite rigorous testing, the unit maintained a cool temperature profile, with a maximum CPU temperature recorded at just 83.7 °C during intensive tasks. The power draw ranged from 20 to 75.9W under different workloads, reflecting its efficiency.
While the ER937-AI offers a competitive package for users seeking a mini PC, its pricing at $1,395.99 may be perceived as high, although discounts are available. The device’s potential, particularly in AI performance, along with its flexible connectivity options, positions it as a compelling choice for both office work and light gaming.
Overall, MINIX’s ER937-AI is an attractive option for consumers looking for an efficient mini PC that balances performance and affordability, catering to a variety of use cases from everyday tasks to advanced AI applications.
