Pierre Gasly has officially extended his contract with Alpine, ensuring his presence with the team until at least the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season. The 29-year-old driver, who originally joined Alpine in 2023, had a contract that was set to run until 2026. The new agreement adds two additional years, reflecting both Gasly’s commitment to the team and the team’s trust in his abilities.
Gasly’s tenure with Alpine has already seen him achieve notable success, including two podium finishes at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix. His performance has solidified his position as a key asset for the team as they aim for greater competitiveness in the Formula 1 landscape.
Gasly’s Commitment to Alpine
Expressing his enthusiasm for the extended contract, Gasly stated, “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud.” He emphasized the positive environment he has experienced since joining the team, noting the support from figures such as Flavio Briatore and François Provost. “I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and world championships,” he added.
Briatore, Alpine’s executive advisor, echoed Gasly’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of building a competitive team. “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team,” he remarked. Briatore expressed confidence in the direction of the team, particularly with the upcoming changes in the sport beginning in 2026.
A Bright Future Ahead
With Gasly’s contract extension, Alpine has secured its lead driver as it prepares for a new era in Formula 1. Briatore noted Gasly’s immense contributions during what he described as a challenging period for the team. “I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication, and talent,” he said.
As the team looks forward, Gasly’s commitment and proven track record position him as a central figure in Alpine’s aspirations for future success on the racetrack. The collaboration between Gasly and the Alpine team aims not only for podium finishes but ultimately for championships, marking a significant chapter in both the driver’s career and the team’s history.
