The Overton Mustangs secured a commanding victory over New Summerfield with a score of 55-25 in their opening game of District 22-2A play on January 5, 2024. This decisive win highlighted the Mustangs’ offensive strength, as four players scored in double digits.
Leading the charge for Overton was Christian Hall, who contributed 15 points to the team’s total. He was closely followed by teammates Rylan Holleman, Ivan Ransom, and Landon Hill, each adding 10 points to the scoreboard. In contrast, Daniel Lloverra was the standout for New Summerfield, scoring 11 points in the loss.
With this victory, Overton improved their season record to 8-6 and opened their district play at 1-0. The Mustangs will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to face Carlisle in their next matchup on January 9, 2024.
Earlier in the week, Overton faced a setback in a non-conference game against McLeod, suffering a narrow 48-45 defeat. In that contest, Brody Brown led the Mustangs with 12 points, while Damien Vick of McLeod topped all scorers with 15 points.
