NFL Rookie Rankings: Top Performers Shine in Week 2

As the 2025 NFL season progresses, standout performances from rookies have begun to shape team dynamics. After two weeks of intense competition, several first-year players have emerged as key contributors for their respective teams. Notably, tight end Jackson Hawes and linebacker Jihaad Campbell lead the pack with impressive performances, solidifying their place among the league’s top rookies.

Top NFL Rookies Through Week 2

The rankings of the top rookies are based on their Pro Football Focus (PFF) overall grades, with players needing to log at least 50 snaps to qualify. As the season unfolds, these rankings will likely change, especially with the upcoming Monday Night Football games set to influence final grades.

1. **TE Jackson Hawes, Buffalo Bills (92.7)**
Hawes has quickly become a crucial asset for the Bills, particularly in run blocking. Following an impressive 93.7 PFF overall grade in Week 1 against the Ravens, he recorded an 85.3 PFF grade against the Jets in Week 2. He participated in 35 snaps, primarily focusing on run blocking, achieving an 84.8 PFF run-blocking grade on zone runs. As a fifth-round pick from Georgia Tech, Hawes stands as the NFL’s highest-graded tight end after two weeks.

2. **LB Jihaad Campbell, Philadelphia Eagles (83.7)**
Campbell showcased solid defensive skills in his matchup against the Chiefs, even without any standout plays. He earned a 78.5 PFF grade in coverage over 28 snaps, allowing just one catch for four yards. His overall contribution includes three tackles and a forced fumble, marking him as a reliable presence in the Eagles’ defense.

3. **TE Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts (82.4)**
Warren emerged as a key target for the Colts, finishing with four catches for 79 yards against the Broncos. His ability to gain significant yardage, including a 41-yard reception, highlights his effectiveness. With a PFF receiving grade of 79.4, Warren leads all tight ends in several key categories, including total yards and first downs.

4. **T Armand Membou, New York Jets (81.7)**
Despite experiencing a drop in performance from Week 1, Membou remains a top rookie tackle. He faced challenges in pass protection against the Bills, allowing three pressures, yet still ranks high in pressure rate allowed and run-blocking grade.

5. **LB Carson Schwesinger, Cleveland Browns (82.2)**
Although Schwesinger had a quieter outing against the Ravens, he remains a notable performer among rookie linebackers. His PFF pass-rush grade of 64.9, coupled with solid tackling, keeps him competitive in the rankings.

6. **S Xavier Watts, Atlanta Falcons (78.8)**
Watts has made an immediate impact in his role, securing his first career interception against Justin Jefferson. His overall coverage grade of 73.2 leads all rookie safeties, underlining his effectiveness in the secondary.

7. **WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (75.8)**
McMillan’s performance against the Cardinals included six catches for 100 yards, showcasing his ability to gain crucial first downs. He leads the Panthers in receptions and has become a central figure in their offensive strategy.

8. **CB Will Johnson, Arizona Cardinals (75.0)**
Johnson faced challenges in coverage but still managed to break up two passes. His performance maintains a solid PFF coverage grade, placing him among the top rookie cornerbacks.

9. **T Will Campbell, New England Patriots (74.4)**
Campbell excelled in pass protection, allowing no pressures against the Dolphins. While his run-blocking effectiveness dipped, he remains a significant figure among rookie tackles.

10. **CB Jacob Parrish, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (73.6)**
Parrish’s performance continues to evolve, contributing to the Buccaneers’ defensive efforts despite facing challenges in coverage.

11. **RB Dylan Sampson, Cleveland Browns (72.4)**
Sampson scored his first career touchdown against the Ravens, demonstrating his capability as a dual-threat player. His high receiving grade positions him as a valuable asset in the Browns’ offense.

12. **S Jonas Sanker, New Orleans Saints (70.1)**
After transitioning from special teams, Sanker made a notable impact in his defensive role, showcasing his potential as a key contributor.

13. **EDGE Shemar Stewart, Cincinnati Bengals (69.6)**
Despite a less impactful game against the Jaguars, Stewart’s overall play rate remains strong among rookie edge defenders, although he faces uncertainty moving forward due to an ankle injury.

14. **EDGE Jordan Burch, Arizona Cardinals (69.5)**
Burch’s efforts in run defense have been commendable, but he must improve his pass-rushing efficiency to climb the ranks.

15. **S Andrew Mukuba, Philadelphia Eagles (65.1)**
Mukuba’s interception against Patrick Mahomes in a critical moment underscores his potential impact in high-pressure situations.

As the season heads into Week 3, the performances of these rookies will be closely monitored. Their ability to contribute effectively at such an early stage bodes well for their teams as they seek to establish momentum in a competitive league.
