Maximo Perrone has officially completed a permanent transfer from Manchester City to Serie A club Como for a fee potentially reaching €15 million. The deal includes a 30 percent sell-on clause and a buy-back option for Manchester City, ensuring they retain some control over the young player’s future.
Perrone, a 22-year-old midfielder, initially joined Manchester City from Velez Sarsfield for approximately £8 million in July 2023. Despite his high-profile move to the Premier League, he only made two appearances for City. His time in England has been marked by loan spells, first with Las Palmas and then with Como, where he made a significant impact last season.
During his loan at Como, Perrone demonstrated his talent by making 26 appearances, contributing to the team’s resurgence in Serie A. Como, which finished 10th in the league last season, marked their return to Italy’s top flight after a 21-year absence. The club, under the management of former professional player Cesc Fabregas, is looking to build a competitive squad, adding young talents like Perrone to the roster.
The transfer reflects Como’s strategy to enhance their squad depth as they seek to improve on their last season’s performance. With Perrone’s signing, he joins other recent acquisitions, including Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis, Nicholas Kuhn from Celtic, Martin Baturina from Dinamo Zagreb, and Jayden Addai from AZ Alkmaar.
This move marks a new chapter for Perrone as he aims to establish himself in Serie A, hoping to leverage his experience from both his time in England and his previous club. The agreement between Manchester City and Como also reflects the Premier League club’s commitment to nurturing young talent while maintaining a stake in their careers.
As the football season progresses, all eyes will be on Perrone to see how he adjusts to his new environment and contributes to Como’s ambitions in the league.
