The Longview Lady Lobos rebounded from their first loss of the season with a decisive 3-1 victory over Royse City on March 5, 2024. After conceding an early goal, Longview showcased resilience by equalizing just before halftime, ultimately dominating the second half to secure the win.
Longview started the match under pressure, falling behind 1-0 within the first few minutes. However, Abby Alba turned the tide for the Lady Lobos by scoring a crucial equalizer with just five minutes remaining in the first half. Her timely goal allowed Longview to head into the break at a 1-1 tie, maintaining their hopes for victory.
The second half proved to be a showcase of Longview’s offensive strength. Just fifteen minutes after the restart, Mary Blake Scott scored from a corner kick delivered by Liz Estrada, giving the Lady Lobos a 2-1 lead. Alba then struck again, this time from 25 yards out, assisted by Scott. This goal, coming just five minutes after the previous one, effectively sealed the fate of the match, leaving Longview with a comfortable 3-1 advantage.
With this victory, the Lady Lobos improved their overall record to 11-1 and their district play record to 3-1. They will face a significant challenge next as they prepare to travel to Forney on March 8, 2024, to take on an undefeated squad.
In other local results, the Spring Hill Lady Panthers faced a tough match against Henderson, which ended in a 1-1 tie after regulation. Kambree McDaniel scored for Spring Hill with an assist from Kaylee Londeau. Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers were edged out in the penalty shootout, despite successful conversions from Brynlee Catt, Olivia Trejo, McDaniel, and Avaree Darnell.
As the season progresses, the Longview Lady Lobos remain a formidable contender, demonstrating their ability to recover and push forward, while the Spring Hill Lady Panthers continue to show promise despite their recent challenges.
