Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has requested a trade from the team, expressing dissatisfaction with his current role. The news, first reported by ESPN correspondent Ben Baby, comes just weeks ahead of the November 4 NFL trade deadline, marking a pivotal moment for both Wilson and the Bengals as they evaluate their roster.
Wilson, a team captain in his sixth season with the Bengals, has started all seven games in the 2025 season. However, his playing time has diminished significantly, leading to frustration. In the recent 33-31 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson participated in 47.5% of the team’s defensive snaps, a notable increase from just 19.7% in the previous game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Bengals have shifted focus towards developing rookie linebackers Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr., which has limited opportunities for the 29-year-old Wilson. He has recorded 41 total tackles this season, including 17 solo tackles and a fumble recovery, but has not reached the 100-tackle mark he achieved in each of the past four seasons.
Wilson’s current contract, a four-year deal worth $36 million signed prior to the 2024 season, has two years remaining. Despite his experience—having made 75 starts and achieved 11 interceptions, six forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries—it remains uncertain whether there is a viable market for him or if the Bengals are willing to accommodate his trade request.
As the trade deadline approaches, both Wilson and the Bengals face critical decisions that will impact their future, making this a notable development in the ongoing NFL season.
