Jamestown Schools Celebrate Achievements at State Competitions

Several schools in the Jamestown area recently celebrated significant achievements in various state competitions. Notably, on February 25, 2026, Medina Public School was recognized as a Vision Zero school in North Dakota. This designation, awarded for a two-year period, places Medina among approximately 15 schools statewide committed to promoting safe driving practices. The school received a Vision Zero banner featuring the message “buckle up, phone down” along with student leaders advocating for road safety.

According to the Vision Zero website, the initiative aims to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents on North Dakota roads. It establishes a goal of zero fatalities, reinforcing the importance of awareness and responsibility among young drivers and their families.

Gymnastics and Hockey Teams Compete at State Level

The Blue Jay gymnastics team is currently participating in the 2026 NDHSAA State Gymnastics Meet held in Dickinson, North Dakota. This event includes both individual and team competitions, showcasing the skills and determination of local athletes.

Simultaneously, the Blue Jay boys hockey team is competing in the State Hockey Tournament at Scheels Arena in Fargo. Their presence at this prestigious event highlights the commitment and talent of Jamestown’s young athletes.

Financial Literacy Triumphs

In addition to athletic achievements, the Litchville-Marion High School Money Hounds were named the 2026 North Dakota Varsity LifeSmarts champions. This recognition was announced following their victory on February 5, 2026, at the North Dakota State Capitol, where they competed against seven other teams. The LifeSmarts competition focuses on real-world consumer and financial questions, preparing students for practical financial challenges.

The Money Hounds will represent North Dakota at the National LifeSmarts Championship in Orlando on April 16-17, 2026. Their achievement underscores the importance of financial literacy among students and the skills necessary for navigating modern economic landscapes.

These accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication of students and staff in the Jamestown area. Each success story contributes to the community’s pride and commitment to fostering a positive environment for education and personal development.
